How we met...

One of the most frequently asked questions that we (Bob and I) get is, "How did you two meet?" So, without further delay, here's the answer...

It was February, 2007. I was attending the M7 Conference in Kansas City, MO (if you are not Nazarene and do not know that is the Missions and Evangelism Conference) and was minding my own business when I received a phone call. My Pastor, Glen Hunter, calls my phone and told me to come out to the exhibit hall where he had someone he wanted me to meet. So, I very hesitantly made my way out there and there, standing with Glen and Becky was a man, And it wasn't Bob!!!!! It was Michael, a guy they had known for a long time. They thought we were perfect for each other and that this was the "one." Well, we exchanged numbers and did begin to know one another. I had always loved Nashville. It's Music City! I am a musician and so Nashville excites me!Anyways, I decided that while I had Spring Break, I would come and visit Nashville and hang out with Michael and see some of the sights. SO, I did. It was a Friday night about 10:30 and we had come back from dinner and sight-seeing. Michael says to me, "Hey, I want to introduce you to my pastor, Bob Wilkerson." I said ok, not really caring much about meeting his pastor, to be quite honest.  So, we go into the parsonage and walk to the back family room and there, sitting on an old gray loveseat is this big, bald guy, with cut off jean shorts on and a white t-shirt and he was watching Andy Griffith. I was hooked.....NOT!!!! We exchanged hellos and shook hands and that was it. I thought he seemed nice but I wasn't captivated or in love. Well, I go back to IL and resume my life and kept talking to Michael on the phone and my best friends were planning a trip to Nashville for a wedding a couple months later so I agreed to come and then see Michael and Nashville again. Only this time, Michael tells me that Pastor Bob wanted me to sing on Sunday. I wasn't thrilled. I just wanted to quietly slip in the pew and be quiet for a change! So, late, late Saturday night Michael and I go into the church to figure out a song I can sing (I didn't have my trax) and there, at the piano was Bob. He was rehearsing with his guitarist. I come in, very tired, sit down and Bob just starts playing and singing! I was BLOWN AWAY! I looked up at Michael and my jaw dropped. I was hooked! We ended up singing together and I was sooooooo smitten. Well, finally, it was time for me to go back to my hotel. He walks me to my car and we talk and talk and talk....finally he opens my car door and helps me in (I have no idea where Michael was at this point!) as he walks away, I look in my rear view mirror and watched him walk away and knew right then that I would marry that man! He somehow (not from me) got my number and began texting and calling me and I was HOOKED!!!! In the essence of not taking days and days to write, I end up moving to Nashville 3 months later. On move in day he and Michael were both there to help me unpack. It was quite fun! We spent every waking hour together and had a blast. We quickly became best friends. I knew we'd marry, I just didn't know when. We dated for almost 2 years. Much of that dating time was kept pretty private. Being in full time ministry and dating is hard and awkard. People constantly pressured us and had their opinions but we just did our best to stay focused and seek God's will not mans. FINALLY, on May 18th 2009, he proposed in the coolest way ever!!!!  (I'll explain that in another blog if anyone wants to know) We were married October 10, 2009. So, as of today, I have been married for 10 months and 10 days! YAY!!! God is SO good. He is truly the man of my dreams. I am very much in love and very, very happy. God has blessed our lives in ways I never could have imagined....SO, with that, I hope that answers those who have asked and if you haven't asked, oh well....!!!! And, in case you are wondering, Michael is happily married. I sang in his wedding to Anna. All is well!!!!

Love ya'll!
