It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year...

I'm going to enjoy it! I will not be caught up in the hustle and bustle. I will not. I shall not. I forbid myself. In a lot of ways this Christmas will be different for us. I am living in a small, but very nice condo. There really isn't room for a lot of decorations and a tree. And, since this  move is only semi-permanent, our decorations are in storage. So, we are not truly decorating. I do, however have a few odds and ends out. I will not be baking and having an open house.  We are not pastoring and since our condo doesn't have the space- it's not happening. I don't have a Christmas program to plan for our church or a host of people to buy presents for. Seems a little sad, doesn't it?

Quite the contrary. I do have 95% of my Christmas shopping done. I do get to spend Christmas with my parents and brother. I will get to bake cookies and all kinds of Christmas goodies with my Mom. I will get to gather with friends to celebrate, eat, play games and laugh. I will enjoy a host of Christmas movies and drink lots of hot chocolate. I'll get to worship with family and friends and sing about the birth of Jesus on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. I'll celebrate my birthday and my husband's and have a fun time doing so. So, even though it's a little different this year with traveling and moving- I am still So excited.

Best of all, I am going to remind myself daily of why Jesus came as a helpless baby in the first place- He came for me. He came for you. He laid His glory aside and took on human form because He loved me. What a gift. May we never reject it, throw it away, stomp on it or cast it aside.

Thank You, Jesus....we celebrate because of You.

" Now there were in the same country shepherds living out in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night. And behold, an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were greatly afraid.  Then the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people.  For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.  And this will be the sign to you: You will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling cloths, lying in a manger.”
And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying:
“ Glory to God in the highest,
And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!”
Luke 2:8-14
